Legal: Standard Agreements
The Standard Agreements for the UK Offshore Oil and Gas Industry
have been developed by Oil & Gas UK and are issued for use within
the industry.
Standardisation of agreements is an important part of the industry’s
objective to help simplify the operational and transactional
procedures and save costs.
For some Standard Agreements Guidance Notes - providing useful
further explanations and comments - have been developed which
can be downloaded with the Standard Agreements (Joint Operating Agreement Guidance Notes)
It is hoped that regular use of the Confidentiality Agreement and
the Transaction Agreements together with the
Master Deed, will greatly
facilitate the license trading process for all parties concerned,
and therefore be of real benefit to the industry as a whole.

JOA Seminar - Dec 07
Following discussions at a
seminar in December on the new Standard JOA, it was agreed to
solicit further comments from industry during January 08 so that
these could be considered by the work group prior to finalising the
JOA and guidelines in early February.
Please provide comments on any aspect of the JOA and, in particular,
your views on the following questions which were raised in the
seminar discussions, to
legalfeedback@oilandgasuk.co.uk
Q1.What is thought as the
optimum time for executing a fully termed DCPD?
Q2.Should the industry codes of
practice be explicitly incorporated into the JOA and how should
this be done?
Q3.What say should those
already on the license have in assessing new entrants into a JOA?
Q4.Is there an interest in
establishing a standard contract to cover the issues of a
non-license holding, contract-operator conducting operations (as
duty holder) on behalf of the JV?
Q5.Are there other agreements
in common usage which could usefully be formed into a standard
industry version?”
